Bourke Public School is one of 15 Connected Communities schools in New South Wales chosen to deliver a new approach that addresses the educational and social aspirations of Aboriginal children and young people living in a number of complex and diverse communities in NSW.

This strategy positions schools as community hubs that will deliver a range of services from birth, through school, to further training and employment.  Connected Communities schools, work in partnership with Aboriginal leaders in the local community to help improve educational outcomes for young Aboriginal people.  This strategy has been informed by advice from the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), and a broad consultation process with key stakeholders; underpinned by progressive educational research that highlights the value of place-based approaches to education.

Bourke Public School programs have been designed to enhance and facilitate each child's development, create enthusiasm for learning and foster a sense of belonging in an innovative school setting. Our school delivers contemporary, challenging and quality programs that promote acceptance, encourage diversity and foster values. Being involved in the Bourke School community also provides the opportunity to promote lifelong learning in a safe and caring environment that caters for both individual talents and differences.
