Week On the 25th
July 2000, Bourke Public School opened earlier than usual.
We were lucky enough to have a visit from the NSW Variety
Bash Crew, a mere 300 people. Every year a group of
volunteers trek around Australia in their cars to raise
money for a variety of charities and schools. The cars must
be pre 1960 and most of them are decorated to look quite
spectacular.
Dedicated
staff were at school by 6 am to prepare breakfast for the
Variety Bash Crew. Thomas
the Tank Engine was one of our first arrivals of the
morning.

Herbie
was up early for his morning shower.

Breakfast
was a scrumptious feast cooked by the staff and parents at
school.

The
Bourke Public School choir belted out a couple of Australian
songs for our early morning visitors.

Xmas in July!!
We were lucky enough to receive gifts from the Variety Bash
team, these included a computer, books, software games etc.
We thank them for their generosity. We even had a
famous face in the school - John Paul Young!!

By 9
am they were ready to get on the road again.

This
tank was one of our favourites.

The
whole school farewelled the cars as they left! An exciting
day for all!
