Swimming Carnival | Athletics Carnival | NAIDOC Week | NSW Variety Bash

In Term 1, 2000, our school was informed that we had been chosen as one of the only schools in New South Wales that the Queen of England would be visiting on March 22nd. We spent the next few weeks preparing for her visit. The students already knew a little about the monarchy, but over the next few weeks they learnt a lot more. We had several television crews come to our school weeks before the Queen was there.

We started off the day by having a whole school assembly. Our Principal, Mr Paul Loxley addressed the school and told the students what would be happening for the day.

While the Queen was being greeted at the front entrance by our school captains, students in our Computer Lab were working hard on their slide shows.

Mr Loxley gave Her Majesty the grand tour of our school, including the Computer Lab, a Stage 2 Classroom and the Aboriginal Room.

Some of the visitors that came with the Queen included: NSW Premier Mr Bob Carr and his wife, Dubbo District Superintendent Ms Robin McKerihan, Ladies in Waiting, Police Detectives, Bodyguards etc.

After the entourage had toured the school the Queen was presented with a hand carved emu egg in front of the students and guests.

As the Queen left our school the students waved their Australian flags.

Our school captains were beseiged by the media after the vist by the Queen. All in all a very exciting day!!
