1
Navy is a great group of children to teach. The children
care about each other, are hard workers, and always produce
work of very high quality. In 1 Navy there are 7
Kindergarten students 9 Year 1 students and 9 Year 2
students.
Since the beginning of school in February, the children in 1
Navy have acquired a wealth of knowledge and skills. Int he
first 3 weeks of school, 1 Navy looked at 'What we do at
school.' During this unit the children learnt the school
rules, devised a set of rules for the classroom and
familiarised themselves with the school's daily routine. In
weeks 4 and 5 of this term, we looked at Edward de Bopno's
Six thining Hats. By working with these hats 1 navy children
have learnt that instead of trying to think of everything at
once, they can categorise aspects of their thinking and
address them one at a time.
In the coming weeks, 1 navy children will be involved in a
unit called 'Back to Nature'. Durng this unit, the children
will learn about made and natural materials and their
uses.
Every Friday 1 Navy children are involved in a variety of
creative writing and art activities. So far this year we
have written literary recounts, painted pictures of times
when we were happy, and created an 'Under the Sea' mural for
our back wall. On Fridays 1 Navy also attend Stage 1
swimming and assembly. A highlight of each week, swimming
and assembly reward children for their efforts in class.
1 Navy is an 'open classroom' and we welcome parents, family
and friends at anytime.
